Cancellation of the 2021 (28th) International Cosmos Prize Award Ceremony

Cancellation of the 2021 (28th) International Cosmos Prize Award Ceremony

September 29, 2021

In this July, the Commemorative Foundation for the International Garden and Greenery Exposition, Osaka, Japan, 1990 (Expo '90 Foundation) (Chairperson: Mr. MITARAI Fujio) has announced the selection of Dr. Peter Bellwood, Professor Emeritus of the Australian National University, as the winner of the 28th International Cosmos Prize for 2021.
However, in view of the subsequent spread of the new coronavirus infection in Japan and Australia, we have decided to cancel the award ceremony scheduled for this fall.

The award ceremony for the International Cosmos Prize, which honors those whose research and activities are in line with the Expo '90 Foundation's theme of "Harmonious Coexistence between Nature and Humankind," will be cancelled as it was last year, but a commemorative lecture will be held online at the beginning of next year so that many people can learn about Dr. Bellwood's research achievements.

The outline of the lecture will be posted on our website as soon as it is decided.
We would appreciate your understanding and sincerely hope you to stay connected with us.
