Cases for testimonial and medal are produced by utilizing
the technique of wood inlaying, a traditional Japanese craft.

The International Cosmos Prize Medal is designed on crystallized white iron pyrites or marcasite.  This crystal was created when the earth was born, and is a beautiful gift from the earth, as living things.  Its radical shape reflects the essence of nature's providence. The ribbon symbolizes the light of the sun shining upon the earth. The medal and ribbon together represent the earth. the universe, and life.  The medal is made of pure gold and it weighs 215 grams.
